Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 3, 2012 at Tri-State Community Church, 12937 Derby Grange Road, Dubuque with Pastor Jack Redmond officiating.

Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery

To celebrate Jerry's life friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2012, at Tri-State Community Church, 12937 Derby Grange Road, Dubuque, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 3, 2012, at Tri-State Community Church. Behr's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Gerald was born on April 4, 1938, in Cascade, Iowa , son of Francis Loes and Marguerite (Klinkner) Loes Wharton.

Jerry served in the U.S. Army from 1957 until 1960. He married Mary Hirsch
on October 12, 1957, in Alexandria, Virginia. He was employed at the Dubuque Packing Company for 43 years until his retirement in 1998. In his younger days, Jerry enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing and shooting archery. He especially loved spending time outdoors camping with his family. One of his favorite camping trips was to Florida. In 1974, he and Mary bought a cottage at Leisure Lake where they enjoyed spending time for over 25 years. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Jerry's greatest love was spending time with his wife, daughters and grandchildren.

8 great grandchildren

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Brenda Heim, a sister Donna and 2 brothers Al and Tim
