William E. Riniker, age 73, of ManorCare Health Services, formerly of 521 Garfield Ave., passed away at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 8, 2010, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque, of natural causes.
Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday at Behr's Funeral Home, 1491 Main St.
Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Friday at Behr's Funeral Home, 1491 Main St.
William was born on July 10, 1937, in Iowa City, Iowa, son of William and Melba (Kedley) Riniker.
Bill lived in California for many years and worked in swimming pool construction. on the railroad and was a coal miner. He came back to Dubuque in 1969. Bill married Margaret "Peggy" Cooper on September 4, 1969, in Dubuque; she preceded him in death on October 5, 2006. Bill worked on various construction projects in Dubuque, including the Dubuque River Museum. He also was a projectionist at the Grand Theater. Bill enjoyed playing cards and shuffleboard and listening to music. He was an avid stock car racing fan, and especially enjoyed NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Bill used to race stock cars at local tracks in California and Dubuque.

Donald Riniker, all of Oakland, Calif.;
1 stepdaughter, Kathy Hunt, of Sioux City, Iowa;
1 granddaughter, 1 grandson, and 4 step grandchildren;
2 brothers, Richard "Dick" (Eileen) Riniker, of Dubuque,
Jerry (Chris) Riniker, of Prior, Okla.;
1 sister, Barb Wiskus, of Edgewood, Iowa;
3 stepbrothers, Duane Bertling, of Claremore, Okla.,
Thomas (Julie) Bertling, of Wheatland, Iowa,
Robert (Kim) Bertling, of Grain Valley, Mo.;
2 stepsisters, Mary Pat Huberty, of Dubuque,
Margaret (Tom) Hicks, of Friendswood, Texas;
nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by a stepsister, Elizabeth Bertling.
A William E. Riniker Memorial Fund has been established.
