Roger C. Hoskins, age 76, of 2795 Hillcrest Road, passed away at 10:20 p.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2009, at home.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by the American Legion, Dubuque Post 6.

Friends may call from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Behr's Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where there will be a parish wake service at 3:00 p.m.

Roger was born on January 18, 1933, in Dubuque, son of Earl and Marjorie (Fennewald) Hoskins.

He attended Audubon Grade School and Jefferson Junior High School and graduated from Dubuque Senior High School. Roger married Joan Lesch on January 29, 1955, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church; she preceded him in death in February 1991. He later married Sandra Reimer at Sacred Heart Church; she preceded him in death in June 2007. He served in the Army in Korea from 1955 to 1957. Roger worked at the Dubuque Packing Co. for nearly 40 years until his retirement in 1996. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, cooking and golfing. He also enjoyed watching western movies. Roger was a good friend with a great attitude who always had a whistle and a spring in his step.

Survivors: three children, Katherine (Fred) Kenny , of Phoenix, Ariz.,
Michael Hoskins, of Dubuque;
Kelley (Michael) Brunner, of Chandler, Ariz.;
seven grandchildren, Carrie (Brian) Powell, Stephanie Howe, Jason Hoskins, Jennifer (Ryan) Ransom, Steven Hoskins, Brice Beutner and Sean Beutner;
great-granddaughter, Maggie Powell;
three stepsons, Fred (Nancy) Reimer, Jeff (Jill) Reimer and Carl (Mary Ann) Reimer, all of Dubuque;
two sisters-in-law, Judy (Jerry) Jobgen, of Dubuque,
Loretta "Cook" Lesch, of Dubuque;
nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Joan; his second wife, Sandra; a son, Steven Hoskins, in 1988; two sisters, Ethel Bechen and Jeanette Wolf; and a brother, Earl Hoskins.

A Roger C. Hoskins Memorial Fund has been established.

The family would like to thank Judy Jobgen for her loving care of Roger.
