Henry L. "Hank" Schroeder, age 90, of 430 Sidney St., East Dubuque, IL, and formerly of Dubuque, passed away at 1:20 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5, 2013, at home of natural causes. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 8, 2013 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 1425 Iowa St. with Msgr. John McClean officiating. To celebrate Henry's life friends may visit from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m., Thursday at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St. A parish scripture wake service will be said at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Mausoleum.

Henry was born March 23, 1923 in Dickeyville, Wisconsin, son of Henry and Rosa (Ginter) Schroeder.

Henry served with the U.S. Army during WWII. He married Kathryn Jerrett on December 8, 1973, in Nashua, Iowa. She preceded him in death on October 12, 1999. He later married Dorothy Voss on October 23, 2002. Henry was employed as a glue press operator for Jeld-Wen Fiber for 10 years and at Caradco Company for 13 years. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the American Legion Dubuque Post 6. Henry was involved in the Foster Grandparent program where he was a van aid and all the children referred to him as "Grandpa Hank". He found great joy in volunteering with numerous organizations throughout the community.

24 Grandchildren and 39 Great Grandchildren.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Kathryn. Daughter, Sandra Goecks. Son-in-law, Joseph Monahan. Brothers: Raymond, Leonard, Adolph and George (Margeret) Schroeder. Sisters: Adeline (Clarence) Wallenhorst and Regina (Edward) Langmeier.

In lieu of flowers a Henry L. Schroeder memorial fund has been established.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Bell Tower retirement community for all their loving care and support.
