Burial: Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Rickardsville, Iowa
Visitation: Friends may call from 9:00a.m. until the time of services at 10:00 on Saturday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Dubuque.
Date/Place of Birth: Helen was born December, 1, 1920, in Colesburg, Iowa - Daughter of Charles (Art) and Flossie (Bush) Parker.
Brief Personal Information: Helen attended school in Guttenberg and earned her teaching certificate. She married Paul D. Barton on February 3, 1942 at St. Raphael's Cathedral in Dubuque. He preceded her in death on April 27, 2010. Helen was a homemaker, a great cook and a gifted seamstress. She was very conscientious about her health and was a 27 year breast cancer survivor. She and Paul walked together regularly and successfully competed in the Bolder Boulder 10K. Road Race in Boulder, Colorado on Memorial Day for nine consecutive years 1992-2000. She took first place in her age group on two occasions. She was an avid reader and very much enjoyed her volunteer work with the American Cancer Society. She also enjoyed her card club group and the many Christmases she spent with her family in Mexico. Helen and Paul traveled regularly and enjoyed taking road-trip vacations around the country and Canada. She was an asset to any Trivial Pursuit team!

4 Great Grandchildren: Allisyn, Brenley, Summer and Blake.

1 Brother: Gary Parker, Guttenberg, IA
4 Sister-in-laws: Adele Parker, Mary Parker, LaVonne Parker and Jean Parker
Many nieces and nephews making special note of Ann Stierman, Kailua-Kona, HI who lived with Helen and Paul while she attended and graduated from Wahlert High School.
Preceded in death: Her parents, her husband and five brothers: Don, Bob, Clyde, Wilfred and Eldon Parker.
Memorials: A Helen R. Barton Memorial Fund has been established
Thank you: Helen's family would like to thank the entire staff at Luther Manor and Hospice of Dubuque for all their loving care and support for Helen and her family; the entire staff at Finley Cardiac Rehab for all their help and ongoing friendship since 2000.
