Sister Mary Paul Francis Bailey, BVM, 91, of Marian Hall, 1050 Carmel Drive, Dubuque, Iowa, passed away January 1, 2018, at Marian Hall.

To celebrate Sister Mary Paul Francis' life, family and friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until 11:15 a.m., on Friday, January 5, 2018, in the Marian Hall Chapel. An opportunity for a Sharing of Memories will follow the visitation at 11:15 a.m. To honor Sister Mary Paul Francis' life, a funeral liturgy will be at 1:15 p.m. on Friday in the Marian Hall Chapel. Burial will be in the Mount Carmel Cemetery.

Sister Mary Paul Francis Bailey was an economics professor, a student loan officer, and also worked in the student accounts department at Clarke College in Dubuque, Iowa. Sister Mary Paul Francis also taught at LaSalle High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, as well as serving as the high school treasurer and a college professor in Chicago. She also taught elementary school in Kansas City, Milwaukee, Chicago, Rock Island, and Clarksdale, Mississippi; where she also taught high school typing and shorthand.

Sister Mary Paul Francis Bailey was born in Springfield, Illinois, on July 21, 1926, a daughter to Earl Ellis and Ann Harriet (Wanuka) Bailey. She entered the BVM congregation September 8, 1947, from St. Vincent Parish, Chicago. She professed her first vows on March 19, 1950, and claimed her final vows on August 15, 1955.

Sister Mary Paul Francis Bailey was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Virginia Harriet Bailey; and a brother, Earl Walter Bailey.

Sister Mary Paul Francis Bailey is survived by nieces, nephews and her loving Sisters of Charity, BVM, with whom she shared 70 years of her life.
