Sr. Mary Ann (Mary Vincent de Paul) Helle, OSF, age 79, of Dubuque, was called home peacefully at 2:05 p.m., on Monday, September 18, 2017, at Clare House, surrounded by her loving family. To honor Sister's life, funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, September 23, 2017, in Francis Chapel, 3390 Windsor Avenue. To celebrate Sister's life, family and friends may visit from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., on Friday, September 22, 2017, in Francis Chapel. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, is in charge of arrangements.

Sr. Mary Ann was born on November 3, 1937, in Dyersville, Iowa, daughter of George and Sedella (Kramer) Helle and Joan (Jaeger) Helle.

Sr. Mary Ann entered the Sisters of St. Francis on August 25, 1956 and made her final profession of vows on August 12, 1962. Sister received her Masters in Education Administration from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion in 1972. She was joyfully missioned in Iowa at Granville, Remsen, Sioux City-Sacred Heart, Humboldt, and Mount St. Francis, Dubuque; and at Melrose Park and Hazel Crest, IL.

Those left to cherish her memory include

Norma Kelchen,
Marlene (Ambrose) Koopmann,
Janet Schwendinger,
Ruth (Larry) Griffin,
LuAnn (Bob) Cigrand,
Joanie (Tom) Tauke
and Doris (Clair) Riesberg;

her brothers,
George (Connie),
LeRoy (Margie),
Paul (Stella),
Frank (Joann)
and Bob (Camie Pedersen);

she is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and her Franciscan sisters with whom she shared over 60 years along her earthly journey.

Sister was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Kathleen Helle; a brother, Henry; and brothers-in-law, Gerald Kelchen and John Schwendinger.

The Sisters of St. Francis express their sincere gratitude to Hospice of Dubuque for all of their compassion, care and concern.
