Warren J. McAllister, age 65, of Key West, Iowa, was called home suddenly at 9:07 a.m., on Monday, March 20, 2017, at UnityPoint Health Finley Hospital. To celebrate Warren's life, family and friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street. To honor Warren's life, graveside services will be held at 12:00 p.m., on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1111 Davis Avenue, with Deacon John Stierman officiating.

Warren was born on April 23, 1951, in Dubuque, Iowa, son of John and Theresa "Louise" (Ronek) McAllister.

Warren was a proud lifelong resident of Dubuque who would learn the value of family and friends at a young age. Warren was a hard worker at heart who earnestly devoted many years of his working career to the Dubuque Pack. He would eventually meet, and fall in love with, Kellie Hoftender, and they would be blessed with 15 wonderful years of devoted companionship. In his free time, Warren enjoyed the challenge of completing his daily crossword, keeping the end of his bingo dauber moist while chasing the next four corners, watching his favorite wrestlers grapple for the pin, or even sitting around the card table in a friendly game of cards with family and friends. Warren was also a generous, loyal, kind-hearted and faith filled man whose gentle nature was always on display. Unfortunately, all that remains of Warren today are the memories he leaves behind and the love he was willing to share. Thankfully, we'll continue to carry both of these into the days, weeks and months ahead as our hearts begin to mend and our minds strive to heal. Warren, we sincerely pray that God will bless you and keep you safe in His loving arms until we meet again.

Those left to cherish Warren's memory include

his significant other of 15 years,
Kellie Hoftender, Dubuque, IA;

his siblings,
Suzanne Thill, Dubuque, IA,
Terry (Sharon) McAllister, Monmouth, IA,
Cathy (Brad) Cluff, Sedalia, MO,
Kevin (Rhonda) McAllister, Rockford, IL
and Shane (Kathy) McAllister, Savage, MN.

Warren was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Tim McAllister.

A Warren J. McAllister memorial fund has been established.
