Rita R. Kintzle, age 89, of Balltown, was called home peacefully at 12:15 a.m., on Monday, January 16, 2017, at Stonehill Care Center, surrounded by her loving family. To honor Rita's life, funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, January 20, 2017, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 468 Balltown Road, with Rev. Noah J. Diehm, and Deacon Loras Weber officiating. To celebrate Rita's life, family and friends may visit from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., on Thursday, January 19, 2017, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, where there will be a parish scripture wake service held at 1:30 p.m., and also for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, is in charge of arrangements.

Rita was born on October 4, 1927, in Sherrill, Iowa, daughter of Edward and Anna (Schueller) Nauman.

Rita was united in marriage to Earl Kintzle on April 13, 1948, at Ss. Peter and Paul Church in Sherrill. They were blessed with 63 wonderful years together, and 7 children, before he was called home ahead of her on September 8, 2011. Rita was a full time wife, mother and homemaker who took great pride in caring for her family and helping Earl on the farm. Her faith was of the utmost importance to her and she was a long time member of St. Francis of Assisi Church and Rosary Society in Balltown. Rita also put her time and talents to good use volunteering over 1000 hours at Mercy Hospital caring for the needs of others. In her spare time, Rita enjoyed creating beautiful quilts, crocheting, religiously keeping plenty of home baked goods and sweets on hand and sitting down to a few good rounds of Euchre with family and friends. Rita's greatest joy though was found in the precious time she was able to spend with her family, especially the countless hours she generously spent playing with, and caring for, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Rita will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but we discover true comfort in knowing that she has gone quite swiftly to her eternal rest and thankfully rejoins her loving family members who have gone home ahead of her.
