Heart Emblem

Patricia A. "Pat" Shannon, age 70, of Dubuque, Iowa, was called home unexpectedly at 9:25 p.m., on Monday, November 21, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque, surrounded by her loving family. To honor Pat's life, funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, on Saturday, November 26, 2016, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, with Pastor Chuck Layton officiating. To celebrate Pat's life, family and friends may visit from 10:00 a.m., until the time of services at 12:00 noon, on Saturday, November 26, 2016, at Behr Funeral Home.

Pat was born on June 19, 1946, in Dubuque, IA, daughter of George and Vivian (Chandler) McIntyre.

Pat was the true essence of a kind and nurturing woman throughout her entire 70 year journey here among us. Her heart was continually driven by her love for others, especially her deeply adored family. Pat was known for her generous character, adoration for all four legged furry felines and a great appreciation for the outdoors and any opportunity to take in a serene walk, or even simply savor the beauty of a flower garden on a nice sunny day. Pat's grandchildren will forever treasure the memories, and role-modeling, of "Grandma Maggie" and "Big Grandma". Her determination to make the world a better place and firmly instill the values of love, honor and friendship will be quite visible within the hearts and minds of her generations to follow. We are absolutely heart-broken today by the sudden absence of Pat from our daily lives. Thanksgiving will never be the same, but we find subtle peace in knowing that she's safely home now, with her numerous siblings who've been called home ahead of her. We can also discover a little smile in knowing that there will definitely be many more Skittles left for the rest of us now and that the casino will clearly have a better chance of winning now that Pat and her sisters will not be walking through the door on a mission to conquer that handle.

Those left to cherish Pat's memory include

her daughters,
Rhonda (Steve) Meyer, Elkhorn, WI
and Tracy (Clint) Edwards, Pleasant Hill, IA;

her grandchildren,
Joshua Meyer, Kaleigh (Greg) Musgrove, Darby (Nate) Bruemmer, Justin (Annora) Meyer, Alex Meyer, Madison Edwards, Jenna Edwards;

her great-grandchildren,
Liam and Addison Meyer, Hayden Meyer, Hazel Musgrove;

her very dear friend,
Ed Harwick, Kieler, WI;

her siblings,
Connie McIntyre,
Dianna Wilson,
Al McIntyre,
George McIntyre, all of Dubuque, IA
and Cal (Arlene) McIntyre, Melbourne, FL.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Donnie McIntyre, Teddy McIntyre, Gary McIntyre, Sharon McIntyre, Ron (Carol) McIntyre, Darlene Lasorella, Roger McIntyre and Jim McIntyre; and her brother-in-law, Carl Wilson.

A Patricia A. "Pat" Shannon memorial fund has been established, which will be distributed among her favorite charities.

Pat's family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Mercy for their kind, attentive and professional care of Pat and her family.
