Heart Emblem

Nancy L. Williams, age 78, of Dubuque, was called home peacefully at 9:10 p.m., on Friday, June 9, 2017, at Dubuque Specialty Care, surrounded by her loving family. To honor Nancy's life, funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at St. Patrick's Church, 1425 Iowa Street, with Msgr. Thomas E. Toale officiating. To celebrate Nancy's life, family and friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, where a parish scripture wake service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Nancy was born on October 5, 1938, in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of Alvin and Velma (Schmitt) Kuehn.

Nancy was a proud lifelong resident of Dubuque, where she attended Dubuque Senior High School. After earning her GED in 1973, she then went on to culinary school, becoming a "culinary student at heart" for life. Nancy was an excellent chef and baker who always provided delicious dishes for family and friends. She was also a very hard worker, and was employed at the Dubuque Packing Company and Dog and Suds. Nancy was united in marriage to Karl V. "Bud" Williams on March 25, 1958, at Immanuel Congregational Church in Dubuque. She became a full time mother after her husband was called home ahead of her in 1971, going back into the work force at the Ramada Inn. Family was definitely the most important aspect of Nancy's life, and she especially looked forward to celebrating Christmas with them every year. In her younger days, Nancy was very athletic and was an accomplished gymnast. In more recent years, she enjoyed playing Bingo and became quite the garage sale enthusiast, always on the hunt for a great bargain. Nancy was a faith filled woman, a devout Catholic and member of St. Patrick's Church. We are deeply saddened by Nancy's passing, but take comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with her loved ones gone home ahead of her, free from the health issues that have challenged her these past few years.

Those left to cherish Nancy's memory include

her children,
Steven (Jacqueline) Williams, Rockford, IL,
Brian Williams, Freeport, IL
and Diana (Brian) Tedrow, Bennington, NE;

her 12 grandchildren;

her 13 great-grandchildren;

and her siblings,
Tom (Elda) Kuehn, Dubuque, IA,
Rhonda (James) Heim, Dubuque, IA
and Larry (Luiza) Kuehn, La Quinta, CA.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Joshua James Williams; a sister, Ruth Long; a brother Ronald (Doris "Cookie") Kuehn; a nephew, Ronald Kuehn Jr.; a sister-in-law, JoDee Kuehn; and her former husband, Karl V. "Bud" Williams.

Donations in Nancy's memory may be made to Hospice of Dubuque or Dubuque Specialty Care.

Nancy's family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Dubuque Specialty Care and Hospice of Dubuque for their kind, compassionate and professional care of Nancy and her entire family.
