Mary E. Kalloway, age 94, of Dubuque, Iowa, was called home peacefully at 4:10 p.m., on Monday, November 28, 2016, at Luther Manor. To honor Mary's life, private family services were held. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, is in charge of arrangements.

Mary was born on February 24, 1922, in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of Ludwig and Frieda (Teitz) Husemann.

Mary was a proud lifelong resident of Dubuque who treasured nearly everyday she spent with her family and friends. She was joyfully united in marriage to Theodore C. "Ted" Kalloway on May 7, 1938, and they were blessed with 61 wonderful years together, and 3 deeply adored children, before he was called home ahead of her on October 19, 1999. Mary was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who took great pride in caring for her home and nurturing her family. She would also invest over 20 years, of her time and talents, outside her home in various opportunities. Mary always found great pleasure in traveling, but when she was back home she would dutifully tend to her plants with a naturally gifted green thumb and she would also spend countless hours working on her next beautiful creation at her arts and crafts table. Mary was truly blessed with an amazingly happy life and her 94 years here with us were abundantly full. We mourn her absence today, but we surely discover real comfort in knowing she's once again reunited with Ted, her boys, her parents and siblings.

Those left to cherish Mary's memory include

her daughter,
Kim (Mike) Peters, Marana, AZ;

her 7 grandchildren;

her 13 great-grandchildren;

her 2 great great-grandchildren;

and a daughter-in-law,
Mary Kalloway, Lancaster, WI.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Ted; 2 sons, Larry and Richard Kalloway; 2 sisters; and 10 brothers.

Mary's family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Luther Manor, Sunset Park Place and Hospice of Dubuque, for all of the kind and loving care they have provided Mary.
