Dove Emblem

Irma M. Beitzel, age 93, of Dubuque, and formerly of North Buena Vista, Iowa, was called home peacefully at 6:35 a.m., on Friday, July 28, 2017, at home, surrounded by her loving daughter, Nancy, and her close friends, Diana and Pam. To honor Irma's life, funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Monday, July 31, 2017, at Immaculate Conception Church, North Buena Vista, Iowa, with Rev. Richard G. Gaul officiating. To celebrate Irma's life, family and friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, on Monday, July 21, 2017, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, North Buena Vista.

Irma was born on October 7, 1923, in Balltown, Iowa, daughter of Arthur and Mary (Wagner) Link.

At the age of 23, Irma was united in marriage to John Beitzel, on June 11, 1946, in Dubuque. They were blessed with over 40 years together, and 3 children, before John was called home ahead of her on August 2, 1986. Irma and John farmed in the North Buena Vista area for many years, and she enjoyed tending to her gardens. Irma was an excellent cook and baker and she loved to share with her close neighbors. Irma was a long-time member of the Immaculate Conception Church and the Altar and Rosary Society, before eventually moving to Dubuque in 1986, after John was called home. Irma was always on the go and thoroughly enjoyed playing Bingo, Euchre and trips to the Diamond Jo Casino. Sadly, Irma's earthly journey has come to it's end and we must say farewell for now. We're grateful for the memories we have made throughout the years, as they will help to bring us peace.

Those left to cherish Irma's memory include

her daughter,
Nancy (Don) Gross, LaMotte, IA;

her 3 grandsons,
Dan Kramer, Epworth, IA,
Scott Kramer, Dubuque, IA
and Anthony Beitzel, Lancaster, WI;

her great-grandson,
Gerald Beitzel, Lancaster, WI;

and her sister-in-law,
Esther Link, Dubuque, IA.

Irma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Beitzel; a daughter, Della Rose Beitzel; a son, Roger Beitzel; a sister, Stella (Wilbur) Saylor; and a brother, Marion Link.

In lieu of flowers, an Irma M. Beitzel memorial fund has been established.

Irma's family would like to thank Hospice of Dubuque, especially Sara, Stephanie and Julie, and her wonderful neighbors and friends, especially Diana and Pam, whom we can't thank enough for all of their kindness, support and loving care of Irma, and her family.
