To honor Gloria's life, funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at the Church of the Nativity, 1225 Alta Vista Street, with Msgr. James L. Miller officiating. The Nativity Rosary Society will begin their service at 10:00 a.m., prior to the service at the church. To celebrate Gloria's life, family and friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, where a parish scripture wake service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Gloria was born on June 9, 1934, in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of Conrad and Margaret (Calk) Meyer.

Gloria was very proud to have been born and raised in Dubuque, surrounded by loving family and caring friends each and every day. She was united in marriage to her destined soul-mate, Edwin Ede, on October 25, 1952, at St. Raphael's Cathedral. Their union was blessed with 31 years, and 5 adored children, together before he was called home ahead of her on February 25, 1984. Gloria was gifted with a strong work ethic and would never shy away from a hard days work. She generously applied her time and talents at St. Dominic's Villa for 12 years, as well as investing another 12 years at Sears. Gloria was a faithfully devoted wife, mother and grandmother who took great pride in caring for her family and home. She was also fond of a little downtime, and when the opportunity presented itself you could find Gloria curled up with a good book in hand. Gloria also enjoyed being socially active as well; she and Edwin loved to tear up the dance floor in their younger days, and in her later years Gloria graciously volunteered her time with numerous organization around town. Gloria was definitely a faith filled woman who was quite happy to call Church of the Nativity her home for countless years. Our hearts are heavy, and deeply saddened, today with the loss of our wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend; but we take comfort in knowing that we will all be reunited with our dearly sweet Gloria one day, and that thankfully she will be dancing with Edwin once again and catching up with her beloved son, Douglas.

Those left to cherish Gloria's memory include

her children,
Steven (Kris) Ede,
David (Tammy) Ede,
Joseph Ede
and Carolyn (Mike) Kirkpatrick, all of Dubuque, IA;

11 grandchildren;

6 great-grandchildren;

a sister-in-law,
Bonita LaBee, Dubuque, IA;

and a brother-in-law,
Allen (MaryJo Trentz) Ede, Dubuque, IA.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edwin Ede; a son, Douglas Ede; and 5 brothers, Frances, Arthur, Charles, Conrad and Leo Meyer.

A Gloria J. Ede memorial fund has been established, which will be distributed among her favorite charities.

Gloria's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff at Stonehill, and Hospice of Dubuque, for all of the kind, loving and compassionate care they provided Gloria and her family.
