Geraldine L. "Squirt" Fleege, age 91, of Dubuque, was called home peacefully at 5:18 a.m., on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at Luther Manor. To honor Squirt's life, funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, on Monday, December 4, 2017, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, with Rev. Dianne Grace officiating. To celebrate Squirt's life, family and friends may visit from 9:00 a.m., until the time of services at 12:00 noon, on Monday, December 4, 2017, at Behr Funeral Home. Entombment will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.

Squirt was born on October 27, 1926, in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of Henry and Hilda (Nachtman) Kohnen.

Squirt was a longtime resident of Dubuque and would eventually meet and marry her soul-mate, Ronald "Bun" Fleege, on September 4, 1946, at Holy Ghost Church. They were blessed with 61 years of marriage, and 3 adored children, before Bun was sadly called home ahead of her on March 9, 2008. Squirt was personally driven to devote her time and energies to nurturing her family and caring for her home, but she was also motivated to find the time to work outside the home at both the Battery Factory and Janlin Plastics for several years. Squirt was known for her sweet disposition and it was not uncommon to catch her breaking out into a joyful song at a moments notice. She also had a bit of a competitive side, which would playfully show itself during a spirited game of cards with family and friends. We are deeply saddened during this holiday season with the loss of our dear mom, grandma and friend, but we know that she'll be enjoying a most glorious of Christmas celebrations with her heavenly family now and that one day we will all be able to sit and listen to mom sing carols with the Angel's Choir. Thank you for making the world a better place during your 91 year earthly journey Squirt, and we are forever grateful that you have left such an abundance of beautiful memories for us to treasure as we continue along ours.

Those left to cherish Squirt's memory include

her children,
Sandy Dodson, Mesquite, TX,
Donna (Roger) Pfeiler, Dubuque, IA
and Michael (Patty Schissel) Fleege, Galena, IL;

9 grandchildren,
Ron Smith, Tim Smith, Julie (James) Dodson, Caroline (Saad) Dodson, Tracy (Don Hentges) Dillon, Kristie (Chad) Hefel, Dan (Terra Freese) Pfeiler, Willa Fleege and Josie (Jeremy Powers) Fleege;

7 great-grandchildren,
Morgan (Justin) Howe, Weston Hefel, Eva Hefel, Zach Dillon, Mallory Dillon, Asah Pfeiler and Koben Fleege;

a great great-grandson,

and a sister-in-law,
Pat Kohnen, Dubuque, IA.

Squirt was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Ronald "Bun" Fleege; and 4 brothers, Robert Kohnen, Merlin (Rosemary) Kohnen, her twin, Gerald (Helen) Kohnen and Richard (LaVonda) Kohnen.

In lieu of flowers, a Geraldine L. "Squirt" Fleege memorial fund has been established, which will be distributed among her favorite charities.

Squirt's family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Kristin Nelson, her nurse, Joni, and the nurses and staff at Luther Manor, and Hospice of Dubuque, for all of the kind, loving and professional care they have provided to Squirt, and her family.
