Geraldine A. "Geri" Tuegel, age 86, of Oak Park Place, and formerly of 3045 Deerwood Circle, Dubuque, Iowa, was called home peacefully at 9:35 a.m., on Friday, December 30, 2016, at Oak Park Place, surrounded by her loving family. To honor Geri's life, funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at Holy Spirit Parish, Holy Ghost Church, 2921 Central Avenue, with Rev. Dwayne J. Thoman officiating. To celebrate Geri's life, family and friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, where there will be a parish scripture wake service held at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Geri was born on December 21, 1930, in Dubuque, daughter of Archibald "Archie" and Hilda (Honkamp) Hoppmann.

She would eventually meet the love of her life, Arthur B. Tuegel Jr., and they were united in marriage on August 21, 1954 at St. Patrick's Church in Dubuque. They were blessed with 34 wonderful years together, and 3 children, before he was called home ahead of her on April 8, 1989. Geri invested her time at talents within multiple opportunities over her 86 year earthly journey. When her children were young she worked with the Dubuque School District, but as the years would pass she would generously serve her community with the Dubuque Welcome Center, the Military Entrance Exams and The Dubuque Arboretum before finally retiring at the spry age of 80. In her free time, Geri would find most of her joys in the great outdoors. Whether she found time for a relaxing round of golf, a weekend of winding down at a campsite or even traveling the states and abroad, Geri was sure to be happiest when she was on the move. Geri has lived a full and productive life and sadly her Bingo dauber has captured it's last blackout, but we know that she is now at eternal peace and resting safely in her heavenly estate with her loving husband, Arthur, by her side.

Those left to cherish Geri's memory include

her 3 children,
Steven M. (Janice) Tuegel, Dubuque, IA,
Cathy (Kevin) Krieger, Auburn, NE
and Lisa (Russell) Boland, Eden, NC;

her 7 grandchildren,
Travis (Steph) Tuegel, Stacy Tuegel, Cory (Korissa) Tuegel, Stephanie Hamilton, Jillian Krieger, Kelsey Krieger, Robert Boland,

her 9 great-grandchildren,
Logan, Bianca, Carter, Piper, Brantley, Reason, Keenan, Chloe and Genevieve;

a brother-in-law,
Robert Keller, Dubuque, IA;

and 2 nieces.

Geri was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband Arthur B. Tuegel Jr.; and a sister, Lavonne Keller.

A Geraldine A. "Geri" Tuegel memorial fund has been established, which will be distributed among her favorite charities.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff of Hospice of Dubuque for their outstanding care and support of Geri and her family.
