Gary L. Hennen, age 60, of Dubuque, IA, passed away at 1:20 a.m. on Sunday, March 29, 2015, at UnityPoint Health Finley Hospital. To honor Gary's life, funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at the Church of the Resurrection, 4300 Asbury Road, with Rev. Mark D. Murphy officiating. To celebrate Gary's life, family and friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, where there will be a parish scripture wake service held at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Gary was born on October 26, 1954, in Dubuque, Iowa, son of LaVern and Rose (Neelis) Hennen
Gary attended Hempstead High School. Over the years he was employed at Vern's Conoco, Georgia Pacific, City of Dubuque Parks Department and Americold Logistics. In his free time and youth, Gary enjoyed demolition derbys, snowmobile and stock car racing and in his later years he continued these hobbies as a spectator. He enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and NASCAR. He was always a faithful and avid Dale Earnhardt fan. Gary adored his grandchildren and his faithful companion, Junior, and some of his greatest moments in life were discovered in time spent with them.

and his Godson,
Mike Hennen Sr., Dubuque, IA.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, JoAnn Hennen.
A Gary L. Hennen memorial fund has been established.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Haas, and many other doctors in Dubuque and Iowa City, as well as the nurses and staff at Sunnycrest Manor for the excellent care they provided Gary throughout the past few years.
