Dorrance R. Herzog, age 87, of Dubuque, Iowa, was called home peacefully on March 9, 2017, in Las Vegas, NV. To honor Dorrance's life, funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, March 17, 2017, at St. Anthony's Church, 1880 St. Ambrose Street, with Rev. Steven J. Rosonke officiating. Burial will be in Little Grant Cemetery, Bloomington, WI. Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, is in charge of arrangements.

Dorrance was born on November 25, 1929, in Dubuque, Iowa, son of William and Kathryn (Walsh) Herzog.

Dorrance was born and raised in the Dubuque area; receiving his primary education at the St. Joseph's on the Prairie one room school house, in concurrence with his work ethic on the family farm in the Key West area. He would eventually complete his studies at Loras College and begin his working career as an accountant. After a few years, Dorrance would discover his next calling and begin working in the computer programming field as the industry was just beginning to develop. This combination would lead to a successful lifetime of not only owning his own business, but also making many friends out of clients along the way. When an afternoon off would appear on his schedule, Dorrance could easily be found chasing a little white ball around Thunder Hills Country Club, where he was proud to be one of the original members, as well as a founding board member. Dorrance would also find a little time for relaxation in his days with a patiently strategic challenge of wits on the chess board, or even a peaceful evening in his favorite recliner catching up with his latest suspense novel. Dorrance refused to allow his age to slow him down and he could frequently be sighted on a nice day putting miles on his scooter as he ventured over to the library for his weekly harvest of knowledge and entertainment, or even sometimes in the drive thru lane at DB&T as it just seemed easier than going inside when the fresh air was all around him and no doors would need to be navigated. Now, today we must accept that these, and many more wonderful memories, are all that remain of Dorrance's abundantly full 87 years among us. But, we are truly thankful for the positive impact he's had on all of the lives around him, and we know that he's quite content to have met an entirely new heavenly audience to reminisce with and possibly even take a few rare moments to aggravate the most angelic of cats in between stories.

Those left to cherish Dorrance's memory include

his loving wife,
Ramona Heiring, Dubuque, IA;

his children,
Michael (Abby) Herzog, Minneapolis, MN,
Joseph (Jennifer) Herzog, Minneapolis, MN,
Raymond (Sandy) Herzog, Dubuque, IA
and Mark (Kay) Herzog, Minneapolis, MN;

7 grandchildren;

2 brothers,
Fr. John Herzog, Des Moines, IA
and Justin (Sue) Herzog, Minneapolis, MN;

and his extended 2nd loving family who joyfully welcomed Dorrance into Ramona's circle of loved ones.

Dorrance was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Carol Herzog; and his brother, William Herzog.

In lieu of flowers, a Dorrance R. Herzog memorial fund has been established, which will be distributed among his favorite charities.
