Dove Emblem

Dorraine M. Frick, age 88, of Dubuque, Iowa, formerly of Mesa, Arizona, was called home peacefully at 6:08 p.m., on Friday, March 24, 2017, at Stonehill Care Center. To honor Dorraine's life, graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, March 27, 2017, at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 1111 Davis Avenue, Dubuque, Iowa, with Deacon John Stierman officiating. Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, is in charge of arrangements.

Dorraine was born on May 28, 1928, in Sherrill, Iowa, daughter of Jacob and Louisa (Lochner) Schmitt.

Dorraine was born and raised in the Sherrill area and would have many of life's most important values instilled within the fabric of her being at a very young age. She would eventually meet her true love, Leo Frick, and they would be united in marriage in the June of 1949, at Holy Ghost Church in Dubuque. They were blessed with 21 wonderful years of marriage, and 5 deeply adored children, before he was called home suddenly ahead of her. Dorraine was a full-time wife, mother and homemaker who took great pride in her responsibilities of nurturing those the Lord entrusted to her care. She was a faithful and generous woman through each and every day, with a strong desire to make the world around her a sanctuary of love and respect for all whom were fortunate enough to share in her contagious joy. In her free time, Dorraine found time to occasionally throw a few strikes at the bowling alley, or even to just simply sit and invest a little social interaction time with her friends at the Eagles, Moose and Dubuque Boat Club. Dorriane has lived an abundantly full life since her years on the farm, through her 25 years staying close to family in Mesa, and upon her return home to Dubuque to be close to her friends and dearly missed Leo. We mourn her absence today, but we watched first hand how Dorraine has earnestly spent 88 years in the interest of her eternal souls condition and destination, and that now she is finally witnessing Heaven first hand and is surely standing hand in hand with Leo, once again, as he gives her the grand tour of her new estate.

Those left to cherish Dorraine's memory include

her 5 children,
Thomas (Carol) Frick, Mesa, AZ,
Mark (Barbara) Frick, Mesa, AZ,
Sandra (Carl) Peterson, Mesa, AZ,
Jeanne Frick, Mesa, AZ
and Greg (Brenda) Frick, Chandler, AZ;

her 4 grandchildren,
Andrea Martin, Kelly (Troy) Gibson, Jacob (Lara) Frick and Kimberly (Chad) Gillespie;

her 4 great-grandchildren,
Addison Gibson, Avery Gibson, Leo Frick and Nora Frick;

and a brother,
Donald Schmitt, Sherrill, IA.

Dorraine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leo Frick; her siblings, Louella (Ralph) Roth, Marie (Harold) Heitzman, Rita (Paul) Kane, Norman Schmitt, Gerald (Mary) Schmitt and Melvin ("Trixie") Schmitt; and a sister-in-law, Janet Schmitt.

A Dorraine M. Frick memorial fund has been established, which will be distributed among her favorite charities.
