Heart Emblem

Donna J. Clauer, age 68, of Dubuque, was called home peacefully, and suddenly, at 6:05 p.m., on Monday, October 17, 2016, at home. To honor Donna's life, funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m., on Sunday, October 23, 2016, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, with Deacon John Stierman officiating. To celebrate Donna's life, family and friends may visit from 1:00 p.m., until the time of services at 4:00 p.m., on Sunday, October 23, 2016, at Behr Funeral Home. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery.

Donna was born on October 23, 1947, in Dubuque, daughter of Harold and Virginia (Barry) Graham.

Donna was united in marriage to Dennis O. Clauer on April 1, 1967 at St. Mary's Church. They would spend 17 years together, and be blessed with 2 wonderful children, before Dennis was called home ahead of her on June 12, 2009. In her younger years, Donna was quite social and would spend many evenings out either bowling or dancing and listening to music with her friends. Donna loyally gave over 30 years of her working career to Regency Thermographers. Her well earned retirement was a milestone she cheerfully obtained, but unfortunately health issues would begin to find their way into her life shortly after. Simple pleasures soon became the highlight of her days; so a light-hearted phone conversation, or getting settled into her comfy chair for the latest episode of Dancing with the Stars, or Law and Order would be the moments where Donna would find subtle serenity. She was a motivated seamstress for new additions to her family, who would generously share her talents by creating unique quilts specially for her grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Unfortunately, Donna has listened to her last Patsy Cline album, and a visible decline in area garage sales attendance will be evident; but we have faith that she is now free of her earthly confines, and ailments, and that one day we will all embrace our dear sweet mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend again.

Those left to cherish Donna's memory include

her children,
James "Jim" Clauer, Dubuque, IA
and Judi (Heath Rummelhart) Clauer, North Liberty, IA;

two grandchildren,
Rylee and Cameron Rummelhart, North Liberty, IA;

her mother and step father,
Virginia (Roger) Link, Dubuque, IA;

and her siblings,
Rex (Judy) Graham, Bellevue, IA,
Ann (Bob) Buol, Weatherford, TX
and Jerry Link, Dubuque, IA.

Donna was preceded in death by her father, Harold Graham.

A Donna J. Clauer memorial fund has been established, which will be distributed among her favorite charities.
