Cletus J. Winter, age 92, of Dubuque, was called home peacefully at 12:50 p.m., on Tuesday, November 8, 2016, at Sunnycrest Manor, with his loving sister by his side. To honor Cletus' life, funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, November 11, 2016, at St. Patrick's Church, 1425 Iowa Street, with Msgr. Thomas E. Toale officiating. To celebrate Cletus' life, family and friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m., on Friday, November 11, 2016, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Cletus was born on August 22, 1924, in Dubuque, son of Chris and Julia (Pfeiler) Winter.

Cletus would proudly receive his entire education in Dubuque, which eventually culminated in his Bachelor's Degree from Loras College in 1946. He would go on to invest over 25 years of his time and talents as a teacher for the Christian Brothers in the Chicago, Amarillo and Wichita areas. In time, health issues would gradually find their way into Cletus' world and his active lifestyle would slowly diminish. The Lord was kind enough to grant Cletus 92 years here with us and the memories he leaves behind will be carried on in the hearts and minds of all who were blessed to know and love Cletus. We will miss you dearly Cletus, but find peace and comfort in knowing that your mortal struggles have now ceased today, and we trust that you are resting in eternal perfection within your Heavenly Estate for the rest of your days.

Those left to cherish Cletus' memory include

his sisters,
Lillian DeCovis, Phoenix, AZ
and Virginia Boileau, Magog, Quebec, Canada;

and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cletus was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Adrian Winter; and 2 brothers-in-law, Richard DeCovis and Paul Boileau.

A Cletus J. Winter memorial fund has been established, which will be distributed among Cletus' favorite charities.

Cletus' family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Sunnycrest, and Hospice of Dubuque, for all of their sincere, compassionate and loving care of Cletus.
