Heart Emblem

Cecilia E. Schueller, age 93, of Dubuque, Iowa, was called home peacefully at 12:05 a.m., on Thursday, March 9, 2017, at Sunset Park Place. To honor Cecilia's life, funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at Holy Spirit Parish, Holy Ghost Church, 2921 Central Avenue, with Rev. Aaron R. Junge officiating. To celebrate Cecilia's life, family and friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, where a parish scripture wake service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Cecilia was born on August 29, 1923, in Holy Cross, Iowa, daughter of Anton and Elizabeth (Gotto) Meyer.

Cecilia was born, raised and lived in the Holy Cross area for 34 years before eventually moving to Dubuque. She was united in marriage to Loren Schueller on April 12, 1958, in Holy Cross, Iowa. They were blessed with 36 years together, and 2 wonderful children, before he was called home ahead of her on August 5, 1995. Cecilia was a faith filled woman who was a longtime member of Holy Ghost Church and Rosary Society. She took great pride in being a full-time wife, mother and grandmother, as well as caring for her home in meticulous fashion. Family was always the most important aspect of Cecilia's life, and some of her fondest memories were created while on vacations all across the county during John Deere summer shutdown. Cecilia enjoyed socializing with friends as well, and religiously attending the John Deere dinners was one of her favorite activities in her later years. Cecilia was also a talented seamstress who enjoyed creating beautiful quilts and intricate crochet projects when she had a little free time and a concern for idle hands. She was also an outstanding cook and baker whose speciality was her famous homemade from scratch apple pie. Teaching her granddaughter how to carry on her recipes, and family tradition, was definitely a proud priority for Cecilia. Sadly, today we are truly heartbroken that only the memories remain of our dear sweet mother, grandmother and friend. Thankfully, she's had a full and abundant 93 years with us, and we possess comfort in our trust that the Lord will keep her safe and secure in His loving arms until we can all be reunited again in time.

Those left to cherish Cecilia's memory include

her children,
Sandra (Robert "Rob") McLaughlin, Peosta, IA
and Gary (Teresa) Schueller, Dunlap, IL;

her grandchildren,
Anna McLaughlin, Matthew Schueller, Drew Thornton and Ryan (Jenn) Thornton.

Cecilia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Loren Schueller; and her siblings, Bernita (Ollie) Wagner, Leona (John) Cook, Anna (Tony) Errthum and Cletus (Marie) Meyer.

A Cecilia E. Schueller memorial fund has been established, which will be distributed among her favorite charities.
