Love Emblem

Bonnie R. Dee, age 81, of Dubuque, was called home peacefully at 2:07 p.m., on Friday, April 20, 2018, at home, surrounded by her loving family. To honor Bonnie's life, funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at Holy Spirit Parish, Holy Ghost Church, 2921 Central Avenue, with Rev. Andrew Awotwe-Mensah officiating. To celebrate Bonnie's life, family and friends may visit from 9:00 a.m., until the time of services at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at Holy Spirit Parish, Holy Ghost Church. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, is in charge of arrangements.

Bonnie was born on March 6, 1937, in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of Ralph and Stella (Stecklein) Huber.

Bonnie was very proud to have spent her entire life as a Dubuquer; surrounded by family, eventually meeting the love of her life and raising a family of her own, along with making countless friends during her 81 year earthly journey right here in God's country. Bonnie and Elmer "Dick" Dee were united in marriage on June 27, 1964, and they were truly blessed with 24 years together, and 2 wonderful daughters, before he was sadly called home ahead of her on October 7, 1988. Bonnie was a continually committed and hard worker who faithfully invested over 19 years as a CNA at both Stonehill Care Center and St. Dominic's Villa, and would even go on to devote another 26 years of her working career with Honkamp Krueger, until her well earned retirement had finally been achieved. In her free-time, Bonnie always enjoyed the challenge of a good crossword puzzle, earning a triple word score on her scrabble board, finding a worthy competitor for the cribbage board, the joy of placing the final piece in her current jigsaw puzzle, discovering a little time for relaxation in her comfy recliner with her trusty remote within arms reach, or even sitting down around the table with her card club friends with whom she spent over 53 years talking, teaching and trumping, all with a contagious smile worn proudly upon her face. Our hearts ache at their core today with the undeniable reality that our dear Bonnie has spent her last opportunity to actively adore and appreciate her deeply loved family and friends. She thankfully leaves behind an abundance of beautiful memories to help heal and mend our broken hearts for now, and we pray we'll find peace in time by trusting in the fact that Bonnie and Dick will both be waiting with open arms when, in due time, the Lord inevitably decides it's our time to join Him, and them once again. Thank you very much Bonnie for all of the love, lessons and patience you've shared along the way and know we'll never forget your light which shown so vividly within the lives of all who knew and loved you!
